The article "How the news changes the way we think and behave" was primarily about how media is able to heavily influence the lives of society to shape it how they want. News is able to not only spread information they gathered but exaggerate and even spread false information that has a huge impact on people's lives. The article states, "It can lead us to miscalculate certain risks, shape our views of foreign countries, and possibly influence the health of our entire economies." This statement is listing just some of the outcomes of how news can be viewed. For example, Fox News is a news station that is heavily republican and shares all the good within the party. On the other hand, CNN is a news station that is heavily Democratic and shares all the good within that party. Depending on which one a person watches, they will be hearing what the anchors say and interpret it that way. This can lead to serious arguments between the two parties, each thinking they are correct and it has already shown to get way out of hand during the past year; many protests, fights, and heavy damages were done in many cities and this is causing a bigger divide between the nation. This also goes for spreading the news about other countries and how we can get in a brawl with them.
I agree that the news changes the way we think and behave due to what I have experienced this past year during the election. As the example previously stated, both the republican and democratic parties have been disagreeing about many things and it is very much based on the fact of which new station they indulge in. I have seen these outbursts not only in person but online, specifically on an app called Tik Tok. Many people, particularly kids, like to spread their opinions on certain situations and try to back up their information by referencing a news channel. There have been many times where false facts were said, yet they still made an impact on some people's idea's to change them. So, I believe the news is one of the biggest influences in people's lives nowadays and can have a huge effect when it comes to how people think and behave.
